KING COUNTY, WA — One person was hospitalized with serious injuries Thursday morning following a hit-and-run collision on Interstate 5 in Kent, according to FOX 13 Seattle.
The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of I-5 approaching South 200th Street. Washington State Patrol troopers and local firefighters arrived on the scene some time after 6:30 a.m.
Authorities said the white BMW SUV collided with a silver Honda Civic, causing both vehicles to land in a ditch along the interstate. Following the wreck, the driver of the BMW fled the scene on foot.
First responders rushed the driver of the Honda Civic to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for serious injuries.
At this time, an investigation and a search for the hit-and-run driver remains underway.
