PIERCE COUNTY, WA — Washington State Patrol troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on Interstate 5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord that claimed the life of one person, according to WSP Trooper John Dattilo.
The fatal accident took place on the northbound lanes just north of Berkeley Avenue Southwest. Troopers had already arrived on the scene some time before 5:46 a.m., when it was first reported.
Very few details have been released at this time, but first responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
All northbound traffic in the area was forced to re-route onto Berkeley Avenue during the emergency response and investigation.
Troopers are on scene with a two car collision NB I-5 north of Berkeley.
