SEATTLE, WA — A DUI suspect and two other people were injured early Thursday due to a wrong-way crash on Interstate 5 in south Seattle, according to KOMO News.

The Washington State Patrol said the wreck occurred north of Columbian Way, in the North Beach Hill area. First responders arrived on the scene at around 12:30 a.m.

An early investigation shows that a 27-year-old woman was driving southbound on the northbound interstate when her vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming car. Both vehicles came to rest in lane 5.

First responders rushed both the driver and passenger of the victim vehicle to an area hospital, where their conditions remain undisclosed.

The wrong-way driver was also transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Washington State Patrol officials said she faces charges of “vehicular assault” and “driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” pending an investigation.

Part of northbound I-5 was blocked for an extended time as an investigation was carried out.
