KING COUNTY, WA — A 45-year-old Seattle resident died early Monday after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 5 in Mountlake Terrace, reports KOMO News.
The incident happened on the northbound highway, just south of 44th Avenue West, just after 12:00 a.m.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the woman was standing in one of the northbound lanes when she was hit by a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Granite Falls woman.
First responders pronounced the female pedestrian deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.
The driver, who stayed at the scene following the crash, was transported to Swedish Hospital in Edmonds for unspecified injuries.
A section of the northbound interstate was shut down for nearly six hours. By 6:00 a.m., the roadway had been reopened to the public.
The circumstances of the event remain unclear at this time.
