PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A DUI suspect was driving with a 5-year-old passenger in the car Friday night in southeast Spanaway when her vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian, according to FOX 13 Seattle.
The fatal incident took place on a stretch of Washington State Route 7 (SR-7) near 208th Street East. Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the scene at around 10:00 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate Taylor Tovoli, 26, of Tacoma, was driving northbound on SR-7 and approaching the intersection with 208th Street East and the same time the victim, a 47-year-old Lakewood woman, was walking in the same lane. At one point, Tovoli’s vehicle struck the female pedestrian and then ran off the roadway. It then traveled into a parking lot, where it collided with a parked vehicle.
WSP troopers arrived to find the Lakewood woman deceased at the scene.
A 5-year-old girl who was traveling in the car at the time was transported to Mary Bridge Hospital, where her condition remains undisclosed.
The WSP said Tovoli, who was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for unspecified injuries, was arrested for suspected DUI. She faces multiple charges, including “vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and child endangerment.”
Authorities had the roadway shut down for about 6 hours during the emergency response and investigation.
