News: Cyclist found deceased after hit-and-run crash in Hoquiam, suspect arrested

GRAYS HARBOR COUNTY, WA — A 55-year-old Aberdeen was found deceased early last week after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bike in Hoquiam, according to KOMO News.

Washington State Patrol officials said the incident occurred on State Route 115 near milepost 2, sometime between December 31, 2023, and January 1, 2024.

The events leading up to the crash remain unclear, but troopers said after receiving a call from a passerby. emergency crews arrived on the scene to find the victim deceased in the blackberry bushes off the roadway’s shoulder.

Ocean Shores Police Department officials later located the involved vehicle, which led to the arrest of the suspect, a 64-year-old man. The suspect was booked into Grays Harbor County Jail after the WSP “developed probably cause for felony hit-and-run and vehicular homicide.”
