SEATTLE, WA — Authorities arrested a 44-year-old man Tuesday night after he fled a traffic stop and crashed a stolen car into a U.S. Postal Service van in Seattle’s Central District, reports FOX 13 Seattle.
Seattle Police said an officer first identified a stolen car in the area of 12th Avenue South and South Weller Street at about 5:30 p.m. and had attempted a traffic stop on the male driver.
After fleeing the officer, the car continued for nearly a mile before it collided with the USPS van and then a light post at the intersection of 20th Avenue and East Yesler Way.
While the suspect tried to flee the crash scene on foot, he was later located nearby and apprehended.
No major injuries to either driver were reported, but the suspect, who was suspected of driving while impaired, was booked into King County Jail.
