KING COUNTY, WA — Over 30 spin-outs involving chain-less semi-trucks were reported Friday morning on Interstate 90 in North Bend, reports KOMO News.

The incidents were first reported by Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson at around 6:29 a.m.

While no information about specific crashes were provided, Washington State Department of Transportation officials said over semi-truck drivers did not meet traction requirements and apply chains before traveling on the Snoqualmie Pass. WSDOT said crews had plowed snow and treated the roadway in anticipation of a storm, but the non-compliant trucks spun out and left lanes blocked.

No injuries were reported, but the multiple spin-outs had the eastbound lanes of I-90 shutdown for about two and a half hours as crews worked to clear the vehicles.

Shortly before 9:00 a.m., the eastbound interstate was reopened to traffic.

The WSP reminded motorists that a failure to chain up beginning at milepost 34, east of North Bend, can result in a $500 ticket.
