TACOMA, WA — A semi-truck hauling several wrecked vehicles overturned Wednesday morning, creating long delays on Interstate 5 in Tacoma, reports KOMO News.
The accident happened on the southbound lanes approaching South 38th Street. It was first reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation at 1:30 a.m.
No information indicating the cause of the rollover has been released, but the National Weather Service warned motorists of dense fog impacting the area until 10:00 a.m., suggesting that low visibility factored into hazardous driving conditions at the time.
No major injuries were immediately reported.
Washington State Patrol troopers had all southbound traffic diverted to State Route 16 as crews worked to clear the vehicles.
By around 6:00 a.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic, though delays lingered.
