SEATTLE, WA — A collision Wednesday afternoon blocked two left lanes on northbound Interstate 5 in south Seattle, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The accident happened north of the exit to South Michigan Street and was first reported by WSDOT at 1:10 p.m.
It was not immediately apparent what caused the wreck, but the left general purpose lane and the HOV lane were closed as a result.
Motorists were warned of delays in the area as the Washington State Patrol and Seattle Fire Department crews responded to the scene at about 1:26 p.m.

The closure remained in place for about forty minutes, and by 1:51 p.m., the scene had been cleared to the left shoulder.
Authorities have not confirmed any major injuries, but footage captured at the site shows multiple emergency vehicles responding.
