SKAGIT COUNTY, WA — A reported domestic violence incident Wednesday afternoon in Sedro-Woolley led to a two-vehicle wreck that killed a 35-year-old woman and injured multiple others, reports KOMO News.

Sedro-Woolley Police were initially dispatched to the area of Greenstreet Boulevard and State Street at around 4:00 p.m.

According to officials, the 33-year-old man connected to the domestic violence assault sped away from officers in a Chevy Trailblazer, which was also transporting a 24-year-old woman in the passenger seat. While the Chevy traveled southbound on State Route 9 just north of the Skagit River, it collided head-on with a Pontiac sedan.

Officials confirmed that a 35-year-old woman in the Pontiac was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Pontiac’s two other occupants, a 41-year-old man and an 11-year-old child, both suffered unspecified injuries. The man was transported by medical helicopter to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center while the child was taken by ambulance to Skagit River Hospital.

The driver of the Chevy was also flown to Harborview, while the 24-year-old woman was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital where her condition remains undisclosed.

Authorities had a span of SR-9 blocked during the response and investigation. By 9:45 p.m., all lanes were reopened to the public.

The Washington State Patrol and the Skagit-Island County SMART team continue to investigate the fatal incident.
