News: Pedestrian hit, killed by BNSF train near Seattle’s King Street Station

SEATTLE, WA — A woman died Friday afternoon after being struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood, according to KOMO News.

The fatal incident took place in the 300 block of South Jackson Street, near King Street Station. It was first reported by the Seattle Police Department just before 3:30 p.m.

Preliminary information indicates the victim was not at a designated railway crossing when she was hit, but an investigation into the circumstances of the event remain underway.

Seattle Fire Department crews pronounced the woman deceased at the scene, confirmed officials. Her identity has not been disclosed to the public.

Delays were expected in the area following the event, impacting service on the North line and S line trains.
