KING COUNTY, WA — One person was fatally injured Wednesday afternoon when they were hit by a semi-truck on State Route 167 near Algona, according to KIRO-7 News.
The incident unfolded on the southbound lanes of SR-167, just north of Ellingson Road. It was first reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation at 12:30 p.m.
Although it’s unclear what led up to the crash, Washington State Patrol officials said the victim was flown to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. Officials confirmed that the patient was later pronounced deceased.
A section of the southbound highway was shut down in the area. All traffic was forced to detour onto 15th Street Northwest during the emergency response and investigation.
By 2:18 p.m., more than 1.5 hours later, the crash scene had been cleared from the highway and all lanes were reopened to traffic.
