KING COUNTY, WA — Washington State Patrol troopers responded to crash Monday morning in Renton that claimed the life of a pedestrian, according to WSP Trooper Rick Johnson.
The fatal incident took place on a stretch of State Route 169 (Renton Maple Valley Highway) at milepost 20, just east of Southeast 174th Avenue. It was first reported shortly before 7:40 a.m.
While the event remains under investigation, officials confirmed that the pedestrian died as a result of injuries sustained from being hit by a vehicle.
Motorists were advised of delays in the area as officials conduct an investigation.
A one car / pedestrian collision occurred this morning some time before 7:40am on SR 169 near 174th (MP 20). Sadly the pedestrian is deceased. The details of this tragedy are still being investigated. More info to come. Expect delays through the area for a while longer.

By 10:48 p.m., more than three hours later, the scene was reported cleared, leaving the roadway open to traffic.
No information on the victim or driver has been released, but impairment is not believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
On scene investigation is complete. Roadway is clear. No signs of impairment on the driver that struck the pedestrian.
