KING COUNTY, WA — One person died Friday evening after a police pursuit and crash on Maple Valley Highway in southeast Renton, reports KOMO News.
The accident occurred at the intersection of 154th Place Southeast and was first reported by Renton Police at around 10:16 p.m.
According to the Washington State Patrol, troopers had tried to pull over a suspect for reasons not disclosed. While the suspect was trying to drive away at a high rate of speed, his vehicle collided with an SUV.
First responders pronounced the driver of the fleeing vehicle deceased at the scene. His identity has not been shared with the public at this time.
The driver of the SUV suffered critically injuries as a result of the wreck.
No further information has been released, but motorists were warned of delays impacting the area.
An investigation by the WSP and Renton Police was underway.
