SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A 28-year-old man fled a fiery crash following a police chase early Wednesday on Interstate 5 in Mountlake Terrace, reports KOMO News.
The collision occurred on a span of northbound I-5 near the 212th Avenue overpass. It was first reported by KOMO at 12:11 a.m.
According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began pursuing the suspect, Ivan Lopez-Ramos, due to probable cause, including assault in the second degree and a felony warrant “for failing to register as a sex offender.”
At one point during the chase, which was prompted because Lopez-Ramos refused to pull over, the suspect crashed his vehicle, causing it to catch fire.
Moments after the crash, Lopez-Ramos fled the scene on foot, running across all traffic lanes.
No major injuries have been reported as of this writing.
An investigation and search for the suspect remains open and ongoing.
