KING COUNTY, WA — A semi-truck overturned Monday afternoon, causing a six-mile traffic backup on Interstate 5 in Tukwila, according to King 5.

The incident took place on the southbound lanes of I-5 north of Interurban Avenue South (Exit 156), in the city’s Allentown area. It was first reported by Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson at 12:51 p.m.

WSP officials have not specified the circumstances of the rollover, but part of southbound I-5 was shut down for nearly three hours as crews worked to clear the vehicle and attended to a resulting diesel spill. Motorists were warned of significant delays in the area.

At around 3:30 p.m., the scene had been cleared from the scene and all lanes were reopened to traffic.

No major injuries were immediately reported.
