SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A semi-truck overturned Thursday morning and spilled a load of fish onto Interstate 5 near north Marysville, according to KOMO News.
The accident impacted the northbound side of I-5, just south of State Route 531, at around 8:00 a.m.
While it was not immediately clear what caused the semi to tip over, the Washington State Patrol had all northbound lanes of I-5 shut down for about two hours as crews tended to the spill. Passing motorists were advised to keep their vehicle windows rolled up to avoid the smell emitting from the scene.
By 8:40 a.m., crews had flipped the semi back upright, and by 9:50 a.m., the debris had been cleared from the roadway, restoring all travel lanes to traffic. Lingering delays were reported in the area due to a backup that stretched to five miles.
No injuries to the semi driver or anyone else were reported.
