SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — One person was sent to the hospital Monday afternoon following a head-on crash between two dump trucks on U.S. Highway 2 in Gold Bar, reports KOMO News.
The accident occurred on the a stretch of the highway at Fir Road, at around 11:50 a.m.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the wreck, but rainy weather conditions had been impacting area drivers that same morning.
Washington State Patrol troopers said one of the involved drivers suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. No other injuries were reported.
A section of US-2 was shut down in both directions as Department of Ecology crews responded to a resulting fuel and fluid spill that impacted a nearby stream.
A miles-long traffic backup was reported in the area, but by 3:30 p.m., all lanes had been reopened.
