PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A rollover crash involving a tanker truck Monday morning blocked a section of eastbound State Route 16 in Gig Harbor, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The accident impacted the eastbound lanes of SR-16 at Purdy Drive and was first reported by Trooper John Dattilo at 5:22 a.m.
While the cause of the crash has not been disclosed at this time, officials said the truck was carrying a partial load (3000 gallons) of liquid nitrogen when it overturned. No spillage was immediately reported in the area, and no one was reported hurt.

WSP troopers also said impairment is not believed to have been a factor in the wreck.
All eastbound lanes of SR-16 was shut down for over three hours as crews worked to get the truck upright and disentangled from nearby power lines.

By 8:46 a.m., troopers announced the scene cleared with all lanes reopened to traffic.
