KING COUNTY, WA — Crews were dispatched to a vehicle fire involving a tractor-trailer late Friday morning on Interstate 405 in Kirkland, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident took place on the southbound side of I-405 near Exit 17 to Northeast 70th Place, in the city’s Everest area. Local firefighters responded to the scene shortly before 10:00 a.m.

While officials have not indicated the cause of the blaze, the far left southbound lane and all the ramps between 85th and southbound Interstate 805 were shut down during the response.

Photos taken at the scene show at least two Kirkland Fire-Rescue engines responding.

By 11:28 a.m., nearly a 1.5 hours after the initial report, fire crews were still on the scene working to ensure all flames were extinguished. All lanes remained closed except for the two left lanes.

Authorities have not confirmed any major injuries as of this writing.
