TACOMA, WA — A man died early Wednesday evening after being ejected from his motorcycle during a crash on a State Route 15 onramp in Tacoma, reports The News Tribune.
The fatal accident took place on the SR-16 entrance ramp from Interstate 5 and was first reported at about 5:00 p.m.
Washington State Patrol officials said the man was operating a motorcycle at a high rate of speed on the westbound ramp. At one point, the motorcycle struck two other vehicles, a Mercedes sedan and a Ford pickup truck. Authorities said the bike then hit the jersey barrier, causing the male rider to eject off the ramp and onto South Tacoma Way below. The motorcycle proceeded on I-5 until it collided with a third vehicle.
First responders pronounced the male rider deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.
The left lane of the entrance ramp was closed, along with sections of South Tacoma Way, as of 7:00 p.m. during an investigation.
No other information has been disclosed at this time.
