SEATTLE, WA — A man suffered serious injuries Wednesday night when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a north Seattle road in his wheelchair, reports KOMO News.
The incident occurred near Aurora Avenue North and North 140th Street, in the city’s Bitter Lake neighborhood, at about 10:00 p.m.
Seattle Police said a 37-year-old man in a wheelchair was crossing Aurora Avenue North outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a Honda vehicle.
The victim, who was left trapped underneath the car, sustained significant injuries. After being extricated by responding Seattle Fire Department personnel, he was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where his condition remains undisclosed.
The driver, 44, was not suspected of impairment at the time of the crash.
