KING COUNTY, WA — One person died Wednesday morning after being struck by a box truck while riding a bicycle in southeast Kent, according to KOMO News.
Puget Sound Fire officials said the fatal incident occurred on Southeast Kent-Kangley Road near 132nd Avenue Southeast at about 6:00 a.m.
The events leading up to the crash have not been specified, but preliminary details show the cyclist was hit on the eastbound side of the road.
First responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Southeast Kent-Kangley Road/Southeast 272nd Street was blocked from 132nd Avenue Southeast to 144th Avenue Southeast for nearly three hours during an investigation. Shortly before 9:00 a.m., Kent Police announced the roadway had reopened.
At this time, authorities have not publicly identified the victim or released any details regarding the involved truck driver. No charges have been reported.
