PIERCE COUNTY, WA — Three people are believed to have been killed early Friday in a fiery crash off a rural road near the census-designated area of Greenwater, reports FOX 13 Seattle.
The fatal wreck occurred on U.S. Forest Service Road 70, less than a mile east of State Route 410. Firefighters were dispatched to the area after a passerby called 911 at about 5:40 a.m.
Preliminary details indicate a vehicle had traveled off the road and crashed before becoming engulfed in flames.
Pierce County deputies and fire crews arrived to find what appeared to be the remains of three people inside the burning vehicle. The victims were discovered after firefighters extinguished the fire, which had also spread to the grassy area nearby.
The cause of the accident remains unknown at this time, but an investigation was underway.
