KING COUNTY, WA — One person was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a head-on crash involving a semi-truck on State Route 18 in Issaquah, according to KOMO News.

Officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said the accident occurred on a span of SR-18 just west of Interstate 90, at about 6:05 a.m.

While the cause of the wreck remains unclear, a preliminary investigation by the Washington State Patrol indicates a passenger car traveled past the centerline and collided head-on with a semi-truck.

The driver of the car, who had to be extricated from the wreckage, was rushed to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center with unspecified injuries. No information on their condition has been disclosed.

A stretch of SR-18 was shut down in both directions between I-90 and Issaquah Hobart Road for nearly two hours. By 8:00 a.m., the roadway and the I-90 offramp to westbound SR-18 were restored to traffic.

An investigation remains underway, but the WSP said impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
