WEST SEATTLE, WA — About 4,700 customers lost power early Sunday after a vehicle hit and downed a utility pole in the North Admiral neighborhood of West Seattle, according to West Seattle Blog.
The incident occurred on Admiral Way, at the front entrance to Aegis Living – West Seattle. It was first reported by WSB at 2:09 a.m. First responders arrived on the scene shortly after.
An investigation remains underway, but preliminary details indicate a DUI suspect crashed a pickup truck into the pole and part of the Aegis Living building. Power lines went down as a result of the crash, causing an outage in the area that impacted as many as 4,700 Puget Sound Energy customers.
Responding firefighters said the male driver was evaluated at the scene but declined transport to a hospital. Authorities confirmed the man is being investigated for impaired driving.
No serious injuries were reported in the event.
The WSB observed that the crash is strikingly similar to another wreck that occurred in front of Aegis Living last September.
