SKAGIT COUNTY, WA — Injuries were reported after a school bus overturned Wednesday afternoon off Interstate 5 in Burlington, according to KOMO News.
The Washington State Patrol said the incident occurred near Exit 231 to Chuckanut Drive/State Route 11.
Officials did not disclose how the bus may have overturned, but multiple adults and about 45 elementary-aged students participating in a TMCA kids summer day camp were on board at the time.
Minor injuries were reported in the immediate aftermath, but the WSP said injuries sustained by one adult turned out to be more serious than initially believed. It was unclear how many people were hurt, but none of the injuries were said to be life-threatening.
Officials with Skagit Valley Family YMCA confirmed all involved children have since been released to their parents and guardians, suggesting no hospitalizations among the juveniles.
An investigation into the accident remains ongoing. No charges have been reported at this time.
