SEATTLE, WA — Emergency crews were called to a crash late Monday morning that blocked westbound State Route 520 near Seattle’s Montlake neighborhood, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The accident happened on the westbound lanes of SR-520 just east of Montlake Boulevard. It was first reported by WSDOT at 11:15 a.m.
Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the wreck at this time, but the westbound highway was shut down in the immediate aftermath.

Motorists were warned of extended delays projected in the area. Alternate routes were recommended.
By 12:04 p.m., all lanes were announced cleared and reopened, but traffic was expected to take a while to recover from a 4-mile backup that had formed.
