SEATTLE, WA — A DUI suspect was arrested early Thursday after a crash on Interstate 5 near downtown Seattle that injured three people, according to KOMO News.
The “major collision” occurred on the southbound lanes of I-5 just north of I-90 and was first reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation at about 3:00 a.m.
While the events leading up to the single-vehicle accident were not provided, the Washington State Patrol said three passengers were transported to an area hospital. No information regarding the extent of their injuries has been shared.
The driver was taken into custody at the scene for DUI and faces an investigation into vehicular assault.
Though only the HOV lane was initially blocked, all southbound lanes were shut down at around 4:20 a.m. Traffic was forced to divert off the interstate and onto the collector-distributor lanes as WSP troopers and WSDOT crews responded to the scene.
By 5:25 a.m., all travel lanes were reopened to traffic.
