KING COUNTY, WA — Authorities were called to a crash late Friday morning that caused a four-mile traffic backup on Interstate 405 in south Bellevue, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The accident impacted the southbound lanes of I-405 south of Coal Creek Parkway, near the city’s Newport Shores area. It was first reported by WSDOT at around 10:55 p.m.
Little information has been made available, but the right general purpose lane, the HOV lane, and the left general purpose lane were all closed in the immediate aftermath.
By 11:37 a.m., WSDOT’s Incident Response Team (IRT), Washington State Patrol troopers, and local fire crews had all responded to the scene. By then, only the right lane remained blocked, but a traffic backup had stretched four miles back into downtown Bellevue. Motorists were warned of major delays impacting the area.

At 12:09 p.m., all lanes were reported reopened, but delays continued to linger.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured in the incident.
