PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person was taken into custody for suspected impairment late Thursday after a crash near south Tacoma that resulted in serious injuries, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The collision took place in the area of State Route 7 and 108th Street South. It was first reported by a WSP District 1 Public Information Officer at 10:38 p.m., when troopers and Washington State Department of Transportation – Tacoma crews had already arrived on the scene.
Officials did not share the sequence of events leading up to the wreck, but at least one person suffered serious injuries as a result, and one person was arrested for DUI.
All southbound lanes of SR-7 were shut down during the emergency response and investigation.
