SEATTLE, WA — Emergency crews were dispatched to a collision Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 5 in south Seattle, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The accident occurred on the northbound lanes of I-5, just north of Michigan Street. It was first recorded by WSDOT at 12:05 p.m.
Authorities have not disclosed the sequence of events that led up to the wreck, but the HOV lane was blocked in the immediate aftermath.
The closure remained in place for more than 45 minutes, suggesting a serious collision.

By 12:52 p.m., crews had cleared the scene from the interstate and all travel lanes were reopened to normal traffic.
