KING COUNTY, WA — A woman was hospitalized Tuesday morning after the stolen box truck she was driving collided with a semi-truck in southwest Maple Valley, according to King 5.
The crash occurred on the westbound side of State Route 18, just east of Southeast 256th Street. It was first reported by Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson at 10:29 a.m.
Preliminary details show the woman was behind the wheel of the stolen box truck heading eastbound on SR-18 when she used the median turnaround. Moments later, the box truck was struck by a westbound semi-truck.
Officials said the woman, who was ejected from the box truck during the crash, was transported to an area hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening.
It was unclear whether the other driver was hurt.
Westbound traffic was forced to get by through the shoulder as crews responded to the scene, causing a 2.5-mile backup to form in the area.
