News: WSP trooper, DUI suspect hurt in rollover crash on I-405 near Kirkland

KING COUNTY, WA — A WSP trooper and a DUI suspect were hospitalized Sunday morning after a wreck on Interstate 405 in Kirkland, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident occurred on the northbound lanes near Northeast 124th Street, in the city’s Totem Lake area. It was first reported by Trooper Rick Johnson at 10:16 a.m.

According to officials, one trooper was sitting inside a WSP vehicle parked on the northbound shoulder when the vehicle was hit by a pickup truck that had veered onto the shoulder. The impact of the crash caused the pickup to overturn.

First responders transported both the trooper and the pickup driver to an area hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening. Authorities said the causing driver was also arrested for suspected intoxication.
