TACOMA, WA — One person died Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 5 near Tacoma’s McKinley neighborhood, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.
The fatal incident occurred on the northbound lanes approaching McKinley Avenue and was first recorded by the Washington State Department of Transportation at 7:37 a.m.
Little information has been released, but the Washington State Patrol and crews with WSDOT and the Tacoma Fire Department all responded to the scene.
Three right northbound lanes and the ramp from Interstate 705/State Route 7 were closed during the emergency response. At around 10:00 a.m., all travel lanes were reopened to the public.
At this time, authorities have not shared any details regarding the circumstances behind the event or any pending charges.
