WEST SEATTLE, WA — A 67-year-old Burien man died Saturday afternoon after his moped collided with a U-Haul truck and another car on a State Route 99/509 exit ramp in West Seattle, according to West Seattle Blog.
The fatal crash happened on the offramp from the southbound lanes of SR-99/509 to West Marginal Way, near the Riverview and Delridge areas. It was first recorded by WSB at 3:26 p.m., when the ramp had already reopened to traffic.
Officials with the Washington State Patrol said the man was operating a Vespa scooter on the ramp when, for reasons still unclear, he lost control. Shortly after, the scooter struck the U-Haul truck and a passenger car as both vehicles.
The scooter operator died as a result of his injuries, confirmed the WSP.
Neither of the other drivers were reported hurt.
