News: Man on electric bike seriously hurt in crash near Renton high school

KING COUNTY, WA — A man was hospitalized Wednesday night after a major bicycle accident in a southeast Renton residential area, according to the Renton Police Department.

The incident occurred in the 1300 block of Southeast 164th Street, north of Lindbergh Senior High School. Officers were dispatched to the scene shortly before 7:14 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate the male victim was riding an electric bike, when, for reasons not specified, he lost control and crashed.

The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the event, suffered significant injuries. First responders rushed him to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center, where his condition remains undisclosed.

Traffic was diverted from the scene as authorities investigated.
