PIERCE COUNTY, WA — At least one person was injured last Wednesday, May 17, when a car collided with a power pole off State Route 162 near Puyallup, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident occurred at the intersection with 129th Street Court East and was first reported by Trooper Robert Reyer at 10:57 a.m.

Authorities did not share a possible cause of the wreck, but the impact of the crash sent power lines across the roadway. A photo taken at the scene shows a small black SUV with front-end damage against the pole.

WSP troopers and Washington State Department of Transportation – Tacoma crews were at the scene enforcing a two-way closure that was expected to last several hours.

Minor injuries were reported in the incident, but the WSP did not confirm the number of those hurt.
