KING COUNTY, WA — A vehicle crash early Thursday afternoon caused significant delays on Interstate 405 northbound in central Renton, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The collision occurred on the northbound lanes approaching Sunset Boulevard and was first reported by WSDOT at 12:05 p.m.
Little information has been provided at this time, but two left lanes were blocked in the immediate aftermath. By 12:14 p.m., all northbound lanes were reported closed, forcing drivers to pass the area through the Sunset Boulevard ramp. Alternate routes were recommended.
It was unclear what vehicles were involved or whether anyone was seriously hurt, but local firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

By 12:53 p.m., crews had cleared the accident to the end of the ramp, but motorists were warned of a visual distraction in the area. A traffic backup had stretched past State Route 167.
At 1:19 p.m., over an hour after the initial report, all emergency vehicles had cleared from the roadway.
