SEATTLE, WA — A serious vehicle fire late Tuesday morning reduced Interstate 5 to two lanes near King County International Airport, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The incident was reported on the southbound lanes of I-5 north of South Boeing Access Road, in Tukwila’s Duwamish area. Shortly before 12:00 p.m., WSDOT’s Incident Response Team was on the scene preparing to close the right southbound lane.

At this time, it remains unclear whether a crash caused the blaze or whether anyone was hurt, but video shows an SUV completely engulfed in flames.

By 12:06 p.m., all southbound traffic was forced to get by through only two open lanes as responding firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.

Southbound commuters approaching from Downtown were advised of heavy smoke rising from the scene.

No further information has been provided at this time.
