PIERCE COUNTY, WA — Three people, including two PCSD deputies, were left injured Monday morning after a collision in University Place, according to KOMO News.

The accident happened at the corner of Bridgeport Way and Cirque Drive, near Cirque Bridgeport Park, at about 4:30 a.m.

Details remain limited, but the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said a white GMC Yukon collided with a University Place patrol vehicle, causing the driver of the Yukon to eject.

First responders rushed the ejected driver to a local hospital where the patient’s condition remains unknown.

Two deputies in the patrol car were also taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries, but officials said they were listed in “good condition.”

The PCSD traffic unit was called to investigate the cause of the crash. At this time, investigators have determined that the involved deputies were not responding to a call at the time of the crash. One of the vehicles is suspected to have run a red light, but officials have not confirmed which party was at fault.
