KING COUNTY, WA — Two people were hospitalized Sunday evening after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 near east Issaquah, reports KOMO News.

The accident happened on the westbound lanes near Exit 20 to Southeast High Point Way. It was first reported by the Washington Highway Patrol at around 8:00 p.m.

According to authorities, an eastbound vehicle was struck and sent into the westbound lanes, where it collided with other vehicles. Four vehicles were said to have been involved.

First responders with Eastside Fire and Rescue had to perform a rescue extrication for at least one person trapped in wreckage, and as many as two patients were transported to an area hospital.

WSP confirmed the driver of the eastbound vehicle was taken into custody for suspected impairment.

All westbound lanes east of Sunset Way were blocked off as crews tended to the scene. At 9:23 p.m., the Washington State Department of Transportation said they did not have an estimated clearance time, but crews were working quickly to get the roadway reopened.
