KING COUNTY, WA — A 22-year-old Buckley man died Saturday morning, April 1, after being struck by a vehicle on State Route 164 near northwest Enumclaw, reports FOX 13 Seattle.

The fatal incident occurred near the intersection with 228th Avenue Southeast, just northeast of Farmers Park. Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the scene at around 9:18 a.m.

An early investigation indicates the young man was walking in the westbound highway when he was hit by a driver in a black eastbound SUV. The impact of the crash sent the victim onto an open field north of the road, killing him at the scene.

Authorities said the striking vehicle, later determined to be a black 2014-2020 Acura, fled the scene before authorities arrived.

On the following Tuesday, April 4, the Enumclaw Police Department confirmed that a DUI suspect they arrested after a multi-vehicle crash was driving the suspect vehicle.

An investigation remains underway.
