PIERCE COUNTY, WA — Authorities responded to a crash early Monday that occurred during a reported burglary in southeast Tacoma, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.
The incident occurred at The Pot Zone 21+, located at 814 72nd Street East. Tacoma Police responded to the scene after receiving a call shortly after 5:00 a.m.
Authorities said a Kia Forte and a Kia Soul were both seen around the business before the driver of the Kia Forte reportedly crashed into the front door. Witnesses said multiple suspects emerged from both vehicles and darted into the building during the apparent burglary, but no information regarding possible stolen items has been released at this time.
By the time deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene, the car had fled, leaving obvious damage to the store’s front entrance.
Tacoma Police were later able to locate the Forte at the corner of East 55th Street and East N Street at 5:15 a.m. The car, which was found with its ignition left running, was later confirmed to have been stolen. The Kia Soul has yet to be located.
