WEST SEATTLE, WA — A vehicle collided with a fire hydrant Sunday afternoon in West Seattle’s North Admiral neighborhood, causing a flood in the area, according to West Seattle Blog.

The accident took place in the 1700 block of Alki Avenue Southwest, near Bonair Drive Southwest. It was first reported by WSB shortly after 2:30 p.m.

Authorities did not say what caused the crash, but Seattle Police and Seattle Fire Department crews responded to the scene, where a resulting flood left only one lane open. By 2:36 p.m., Alki Avenue was shut down in both directions, and by 2:57 p.m., Seattle Police had started evacuating a building in the 2100 block of Bonair Drive as a precautionary measure.

Crews worked to clear about a “foot of mud” on the impacted roads. At 3:18 p.m., WSB reported that Alki Avenue had been reopened to traffic, though Bonair Drive remained blocked.

As of this writing, local agencies have not indicated any serious injuries.
