WHATCOM COUNTY, WA — One person was injured early Thursday due to a rollover semi-truck crash on Interstate 5 in Bellingham, according to KOMO News.
The collision occurred on the northbound lanes south of Exit 252 to South Samish Way, in the Happy Valley area. It was first recorded by the Washington State Department of Transportation at 4:35 a.m.
Authorities have not said what caused the wreck, but a semi-truck was transporting construction materials when it overturned.
One person who suffered undisclosed injuries was transported to a local hospital.
All northbound lanes were blocked following the crash, creating a traffic backup at least four miles long by 8:20 a.m.
Two tow trucks were required to lift and flip the semi in order to clear it from the roadway.
At about 11:00 a.m., crews had finished clearing the debris and all lanes were reopened to traffic.
