KITSAP COUNTY, WA — Two people were injured, one seriously, Wednesday afternoon due to a hit-and-run crash involving a wrong-way driver on State Route 16 in Gig Harbor, reports KOMO News.

The incident occurred on the westbound side of SR-16 at SR-302. It was first recorded by the Washington State Department of Transportation at 1:26 p.m.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a man was driving a stolen gray Ford F350 pickup truck eastbound on the westbound side of the road. At one point, the pickup collided head-on with a Toyota Highlander SUV.

A 73-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Toyota suffered serious injuries. She and the driver of the Toyota, who sustained minor injuries, were both transported to a hospital.

Following the wreck, the driver of the wrong-way pickup fled the scene on foot toward SR-302. After the suspect fled, a female driver in a white Ford Ranger stopped at the crash site and told witnesses she was searching for her boyfriend, the fleeing driver. She also ultimately fled the scene before authorities arrived.

At this time, the WSP is searching for both the hit-and-run driver and the driver of the white Ford Ranger.
