TACOMA, WA — A semi-truck overturned Wednesday morning, creating major traffic delays on Interstate 5 near downtown Tacoma, according to King 5.
The accident impacted the southbound lanes near South Yakima Avenue at milepost 133.23, in an area south of the city’s Hilltop neighborhood. Shortly after 8:15 a.m., the Washington State Department of Transportation announced the closure of multiple lanes, forcing all southbound traffic to get by through just a single open lane.
It was unclear what caused the rollover, but just before 9:45 a.m., the three right southbound lanes appeared to have been reopened.
By 11:00 a.m., the entire roadway was reported cleared, though a miles-long backup remained in the area.
At this time, authorities have not disclosed the condition of the driver or any other details.
