TACOMA, WA — A 47-year-old man was arrested for suspected impairment and threatening bystanders after a crash Sunday night in south Tacoma, according to KIRO 7 News.
Tacoma Police responded to the scene in the area of South 54th Street and South Alaska Street after receiving multiple calls regarding a possible drunk driver.
According to authorities, the suspect’s vehicle hit and downed a street sign near the intersection. Instead of stopping, the male driver continued to South J Street with the sign wedged under his car. When bystanders approached the suspect to see if he was OK, he pointed a firearm at them.
Following the crash, responding officers took the suspect into custody for suspected DUI and “using a weapon to intimidate others.”
